If you are in Lisbon it’s really hard not to notice and talk about the Electronic Scooters. They are one of the most favourite and enjoyable transportation vehicles in Lisbon. Firstly, there are many providers of electronic scooters, from the more known and used Lime, to Frog, Bird and then the favourite one Bolt. At the moment the places where you can find the scooters are shooting up like crazy, especially in the districts Baixa, Chiado and Belém. There are several companies that allow you to rent electric scooters. The cost of renting an electric scooter is the same everywhere: €1 to unlock and then 15 cents per minute to drive, which comes down to €9 per hour, or just under £8. You can also use the discount codes.
The scooters are literally everywhere in the city, so finding one is no problem.It is easy to rent a scooter. Here is how it works... Download the app, put in a payment card, scan a scooter and away you go. Download the app for the scooter company you want to use. Set up a basic account and assign a card to be charged to use. Use the map to see where scooters are in relation to you and also check out any areas that are no ride zones so you now where to avoid/where you can’t ride. Go up use the scan barcode button o activate the scooter. A noise will indicate your scooter has been activated. Obviously watch out for pedestrians, bikes, cars, buses and trams and scooter carefully and sensibly. Also wear a helmet and make sure you park your scooter in a responsible way.
The electric scooter seems to be a very welcome addition to the possibilities to quickly get around Lisbon. It is quite cheap, very easy to do and above all it’s a lot of fun!
