Adult education

Adult education

Erasmus+ activities have positive results for both the organisation and the individual members of staff taking part in them. People gain fresh perspectives, feel energised and motivated, it supports their professional development and also staff retention. They develop new skills by getting to know first-hand the work of other organisations, by sharing ideas and discovering best practice. Through strategic partnerships adult learners get to benefit from innovative approaches.

In the context of the Erasmus+ Programme, the following meanings apply:

  • Adult Learning: all forms of adult education that are not of a professional/vocational nature, whether non-formal or informal.
  • Adult Learner: any person who has completed his or her studies or is no longer receiving education or initial training can be reintegrated into any type of ongoing learning, with the exception of teachers/trainers in School Education and Education and Professional Training.

Adult Learning initiatives provided through formal, informal or non-formal educational institutions enable participation in European transnational and mobility projects.
