Portugal and freedom of choice

Portugal is an interesting country where, despite the advantage of Catholics, it turns out to be possible: partnerships, legal abortion; after cremation, you can take your ashes home with you and soon euthanasia will come to it. I admit that even without having to use these 'privileges' we feel good about it, we have the right to decide for ourselves. Despite the fact that the country's economic situation is still not the best, the bureaucracy is terrible, and work is sometimes difficult, many of us still stay here because of the freedom to choose and decide about ourselves.

A wave of strikes and protests in Poland in 2020. inspired me to write about abortion in Portugal ....

It is legal and free if you have insurance or about 500 € (Clinica dos Arcos - price list) if there is no insurance. You can choose whether it is pharmacological or surgical. Consultation takes 15 minutes of talks and 3 days to think about the decision. Most of the women who report to the clinic already have this well thought out, but that's the rule. I remember that there was a time when young women treated abortions as contraception and there was a project of limiting abortions to 3 for insurance, then paid 100%. However, over time, the situation calmed down and restrictions were abandoned (SNS24 - info.pt).

It turns out that there is a moment of chaos at the beginning, but women know perfectly well whether they want to give birth or not. And it doesn't matter what the reasons for the decision to stop are: health, conscience, finances, career ... it's important that the decision is ours and only we will bear the consequences.
