Pandemic in Portugal

Pandemic in Portugal

It's February 2021. One year after consecutive (now 11) states of emergency have been imposed. That allows for numerous bans. It is mainly about staying at home, but there are also absurd situations, such as closing beaches or banning people from sitting on benches in public places, like parks, bus stops or promenades by the ocean.

Many small businesses or companies that live off the services, unfortunately, did not survive. Many places that used to be bustling with life became empty and 'dead'. That looks sad. Life has moved online, but it is impossible to take advantage of being in the fresh air or in physical contact with the loved ones.

We all hoped that this year would be better than last year. Unfortunately, at the moment this cannot be said. It looks worse at times. There is little to plan, nobody wants to make binding decisions. We are still suspended ... and it is likely to last a month or two ...

It is a pity that there is no good news to write this time, except that nature breathed a little and people slowed down. Although in Portugal, rush has never been the dominant behavior.
